Philadelphia-born R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass died at the age of 59. His son, Teddy Pendergrass II, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he died in the Philadelphia-area's Bryn Mawr Hospital on Wednesday.
Pendergrass who gave us such hits as If You Don't Know Me By Now, I Don't Love You Anymore and I Miss You; became paralyzed from the waist down after a car accident in 1982. This ambitious R&B legend was still able to return to the stage after this tragic event.
Pendergrass, who became diagnosed with colon cancer, had colon cancer surgery eight months ago. The singer's son said that his father had "a difficult recovery" after this experience. All of his fans and family will miss him and his soulful classics.
