Ryan Reynolds had doubts about Buried

Ryan Reynolds has revealed he almost turned down his new film Buried.

The whole movie consists of the actor, who plays a contractor in Iraq who is buried alive, in a coffin.

Ryan, 33, could not understand how the film would work, telling the US edition of GQ that when he was first told about the script "I just thought, There's no possible way that could be any good".

Blake Lively, who appears with the Canadian actor in the forthcoming superhero film Green Lantern, that the Green Lantern cast were worried about whether the Buried would work out when they treated to a screening in New Orleans.

"Everybody loved Ryan, and they all wanted to go and support the movie," she said. "But they all thought, 'Okay, this will be interesting to see how this turns out.' As much as I like Ryan, I thought, 'I don't think I can watch anybody in a box for an hour and a half.'"

Ryan plays a human member of an intergalactic police force in Green Lantern.

He spent much of the year sweltering in a "ridiculous" one-piece motion-capture suit, over which the Green Lantern's costume will be digitally layered in post-production.

He said of the bodysuit: "Kind of ridiculous. It's made of actual woven misery. Whatever material they've used, they've managed to make it the most heat-conducting substance known to man."
