Miranda Cosgrove Talks College vs Show Biz With Ellen DeGeneres

Cutie 'iCarly' star Mirada Cosgrove stopped by 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' today (March 9) to talk about life and her perfect boy.

The 17-year-old actress/singer opened up to Ellen about her plans to take a break from showbiz in order to attend college, telling Ellen:
I just sent all my college applications in so Im waiting to see what happens. Im in 12th grade but Ill find out in the next few weeks, I still really want to do my show so Im going to try to keep filming. Maybe if I go to USC I can still do it since Ill be in LA.
Miranda explained that she applied to both USC and NYU. My bet is she's hoping she'll get accepted to USC because who wouldn't want to earn more cash and still get an education?

When Ellen asked Neutrogena spokes girl Miranda what she looks for in her perfect guys she said:
Shia Labeouf and Zac Efron put together, with a Michael Cera personality.
Sounds like a great guy to me too, hopefully she'll find someone with all of those traits. I'm a big fan of 'iCarly', it's really funny & entertaining so I'm hoping she'll stick around & do school at the same time. I mean if Natalie Portman did it...

John Galliano Is Fired From Dior

The shamed designer John Galliano has been fired from Dior after he was caught (and arrested for) making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris caf.

The designer who worked for Dior for the past 15 years fought back this weekend, after being suspended, by denying the allegations and filing a defamation suit against the couple who reported the allegations.

An LA Times blog reports Galliano states the following in the video:
"People like you would be dead," the designer slurred to patrons at a neighboring table in the video, posted on the Sun website. "Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be ... gassed and ... dead." He also told those who made the video -- who were French and Italian, not Jewish, the Sun said -- that he had a problem with them because they were ugly.
Oscar winner and Dior endorser Natalie Portman put out a statement after the video of Galliano stating "I love Hitler" was made public.
I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Gallianos comments that surfaced today, Natalie said in a statement Monday evening (via The New York Times). In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.
It was reported by police that Galliano's blood alcohol levels were very high. There is still no word on if this matter and Natalie Portman's statement will affect her contract with Dior.

Natalie Portman & Fiance Grab Some Lunch

Oscar winning actress Natalie Portman and her choreographer fiance Benjamin Millepied stepped out in the beautiful L.A. sun today for some lunch together.

Natalie Portman, who won her first Oscar last night, looked relaxed in a yellow sweater and colorful cotton skirt. She and her fiance both sported the low key look with matching black sunglasses.

These two really are the cutest couple! They seem really down to earth & the best part is that she drives a Toyota, ha ha. Normally celebrities opt for a BMW or Mercedes but not these two...I love it.

A Pregnant Natalie Portman Looks Adorable In Yellow

The beautiful and pregnant starlet showed off her growing baby bump today at the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards held in Santa Monica, CA.
The 29 year old 'Black Swan' star was nominated for Best Female lead at the awards. While on the red carpet Natalie Portman was asked if she thought the film would be so successful and she responded by saying:
No, not in a million years, she said. Its been an amazing experience to have an audience whos so passionate about the movie.
I think she looked absolutely gorgeous in this dress and the yellow in it makes it all that much prettier.

Chilly Night Warm Hearts at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

The biggest stars of film and television bundled up a bit on Sunday Jan. 30, as they descended on the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate their own achievements. It was an unexpectedly chilly walk on the tented red carpet after a day of showers, but nothing dampened the spirits of the actors who gathered for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

SAG is the union that traditionally represents film actors, although those lines have blurred over the years, as guild members float between working in both movies and television. There was much talk at the show that AFTRA, the union for TV actors, and SAG will soon merge; SAG president Ken Howard told the full house that "by this time next year, I believe SAG and AFTRA will be one union, together."

And many of the winners agreed.

"Unions made this country strong and they give a voice to the worker," proclaimed Melissa Leo through tears of joy, who took home the Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Supporting Role for "The Fighter."

Not everyone was concerned with politics, however, as the gorgeous dresses were the talk of the night. Presenter Susan Sarandon wore Nicole Miller in purple, nominee Amy Adams went with a white chiffon number from Herve L Leroux, and Annette Bening looked completely elegant in a bejeweled golden Tony Ward gown.

Bening lost out to Natalie Portman, who took home the Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role for "Black Swan" while showing her baby bump in a white Azzaro sheath. She, too, cheered on her union, saying, "I've been working since I was eleven years old, and SAG has been taking care of me all along."

Like Portman and Leo, who have won every major award so far this season, Christian Bale and Colin Firth took home the Male equivalents, for "The Fighter" and "The King's Speech." But the surprise of the night came when "The King's Speech" nabbed the biggest prize that SAG gives, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. "The Social Network" has been scooping up all the best picture accolades until now, which many take as a sign that "The King's Speech" may edge it out come Oscar time at the end of February.

As everyone from Sofia Vergara, Angie Harmon, Jon Hamm, Nicole Kidman, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Longoria and the whole cast of "Glee" looked on, other winners were awarded from the television side. Prizes went to Steve Buscemi of "Boardwalk Empire," Julianna Margulies from "The Good Wife," Alec Baldwin of "30 Rock," and, in an award that only shocked the recipient, Betty White for her work in "Hot in Cleveland."
"This is the biggest surprise I have ever had in this business," the 89-year-old White said with a laugh, as her fellow actors gave her a standing ovation. "You didn't applaud when I turned 40!"

Portman rings in 2011 with awards 4 movies baby

For Natalie Portman, 2011 is already shaping up to be an unforgettable year. The actress is getting big awards buzz for her turn as a ballerina gone mad in "Black Swan." She already won a Golden Globe, she's up for a Screen Actors Guild award and she's sure to hear her name when Oscar nominations are announced next week. Portman also has four other movies slated for release this year including the first produced by her own company.

Oh, and she's pregnant with her first child and engaged to be married.

"I'm very, very excited," she says during an interview to promote her romantic comedy "No Strings Attached," which opens Friday. "I feel very, very lucky."

And maybe just a bit overwhelmed.

Ever poised in interviews, and always the picture of perfection at events, the Harvard grad and Oscar nominee (for 2004's "Closer") says having four movies in the pipeline at the same time she's starting a family is "a little insane."

Not that she's letting it get to her or letting it show, except for maybe the family part. Though she has a spate of scheduled appearances coming up awards shows, film festivals, premieres she's not dashing around town juggling meetings and fittings. Instead, the star who recently relocated to Los Angeles from her hometown of New York says she's just relaxing with her mom and enjoying the West Coast weather.

"I think because so much is going on, it's just sort of going over my head," Portman says, her petite frame folded on a sofa, her hand intuitively resting on her bourgeoning belly. "I don't know that I'm taking it all in. I'm just like, 'Oh, the sun is shining. I'm with my mom. I'm with my dog. Life is good.'"

Indeed, things are good for the 29-year-old. She's engaged to Benjamin Millepied, a ballet dancer and choreographer who worked on "Black Swan," and they are expecting their first child together. He was her date at the Globes, and when she was named best actress in a drama, she thanked him for "helping me to continue this creation of creating more life."

Portman is also giving life to new movies through her production company, handsomecharlie films. The company's first feature, "Hesher," in which she stars with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, premiered at Sundance and is set for release this year. Handsomecharlie is also developing "Best Buds," a road-trip tale of a bride-to-be who staves off a nervous breakdown by hanging with her friends and smoking marijuana. Portman is set to star.

"We like all sorts of movies: drama, thriller, sci-fi, comedy," she says of herself and producing partner Annette Savitch. "But I think something that definitely appeals to us, just because of the lack of it, is strong female comedies, and also female friendship movies unlike 'Black Swan' where they're ripping each other's hair out where girls are funny, supportive friends for each other."

Portman dabbles in on-screen female friendship in "No Strings Attached." She plays Emma Kurtzman, a doctor for whom love is like a nasty rash: irritating, painful and best avoided. Meanwhile, her colleagues (played by Greta Gerwig and Mindy Kaling) want boyfriends and lament the lack of good guys out there. They support Emma as she enters a sex-only relationship with Adam (Ashton Kutcher), zinging one-liners and cracking wise throughout.

It's the rare romantic comedy where women get laughs, Portman says.

"I had been looking for a funny female character for a long time," she says. "I feel like in romantic comedies often it's just the girl who gets to kind of wear cute clothes and wants to get married at the end, which is always fun to watch but it's not necessarily a challenge or exciting to do."

Director Ivan Reitman says Portman found the script on her own and asked for the part. He recalls being surprised at her interest, then met with her.

"I realized as I was talking to her: Oh, this is the girl," he says. "She is as smart as this character is, because she needs to be that intelligent, but more than that, she has the strength that this girl has, and she has the complexity to portray somebody that is a little bit messed up."

The role called for Portman to be saucy, sexy and even drunk in one scene. Her character is bold, confident and sexually self-assured the complete opposite of her award-winning "Black Swan" character, who is repressed, girlish and afraid.

The back-to-back contrasting roles was "one of those sort of accidents," the actress says.

"I'd been with 'Black Swan' for 10 years before it got made, and I'd been with this movie for like three years before it got made, and it just happened to get financing in the same period," she says. "But it's always welcome to completely shed a character and do something very, very different."

She'll be seen in two more very different roles this year. She plays a warrior opposite Danny McBride and James Franco in the comedy-adventure "Your Highness," and a human friend of a Norse god in Marvel Studios' anticipated "Thor."

Portman might be promoting her movies through most of her pregnancy.

"The thing that's great is that I'm really proud of all the movies. I'm really excited about every single one," she says. "I don't think it's great that they're like all in this time period. I wish they were more spaced out, but I don't really have control over that. But at least people won't see my face for awhile afterwards."

For now, though, expect Portman aplenty in what's becoming Natalie's big year.
