Zooey Deschanel Weds Ben Gibbard

She and Him front woman Zooey Deschanel wed her rocker fiance Ben Gibbard in a private ceremony outside of Seattle, Washington this past weekend. The two announced their engagement after Gibbard, of Deathcab for Cutie fame, proposed to the singer/actress with a Neil Lane 3-carat engagement ring. The media recently announced that the two were planning their wedding.

It's refreshing to see a couple get married for all the right reasons, not whore themselves out to Us Weekly and People for photo op privileges. Best of luck to this adorable indie couple.

Zooey Deschanel On Marriage

After announcing her engagement to DeathCab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard in 2008, Zooey Deschanel has expressed some interesting theories on commitment and marriage. The wide-eyed actress stated, "People don't have to get married anymore. We're a generation that has progressed in many ways, from the ones before us. I think that the idea of romantic love is about marriage is over. Now all love is romantic love. Getting married is not a necessity, and staying with one person is not a necessity."

Getting married may not be a necessity, but being in shape for the wedding is. According to the New York Post, Deschanel has been spotted at Pure Barre in Los Angeles taking dance classes to tone up for her rumored autumn wedding. Deschanel is taking classes that utilize the ballet barre for balance and resistance.

The state of romantic marital love may be at risk for this generation, but at least they will all look like fitness gurus for their wedding ceremonies.

Review of 500 Days of Summer

As the movie warns, 500 Days of Summer is not a love story. However it is the story of Tom's (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) romantic journey with Summer (Zooey Deschanel). Tom, a hopeless romantic, thinks he has found the girl for him, but Summer has other plans.

The romantic comedy is unlike most fairytale stories. It was refreshing to see an independent woman rather than the typical damsel in distress. Through flashbacks and humor, 500 Days of Summer keeps you wondering what will happen on the last day. There were several fantasy sequences throughout the film which added to its unique humor.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel had great chemistry and really took on the role of their characters. The supporting roles played by Geoffrey Arend and Matthew Gray Gubler helped you better understand the mechanics of the male mind, while allowing you to get to know more about the character of Tom.

The ending might not be what you expect, but it will not leave you dissapointed.
