Inside Katy Perry and Russell Brand's new $2.7m NYC love nest

Lovebirds Katy Perry and Russell Brand are continuing to nest for their life together by splashing out on a new apartment in New York.

The Hot n Cold singer and her fianc� seem to have put their recent troubles behind them and snapped up a 1500-square-foot penthouse.

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a rooftop deck overlooking the city.
They chose Manhattan's trendy TriBeca district for their pied-�-terre, which they say will just be a crash pad for when they hit the Big Apple, but have their main home in Los Angeles.

The couple are due to tie the knot by the end of the year and are currently splitting their time between L.A. and London.

The singer and British funny man took some time out of their busy schedules to take a bike ride around their new neighbourhood on Friday.
It's the first time the pair have been pictured together since Russell was arrested for his alleged fight with a photographer.

He was charged with battery and transferred to a police station after the snapper had made a citizen's arrest.

He made light of his arrest at LAX airport a few days later by taking to his Twitter page.

Russell tweeted: 'Thanks for all your sweet messages of support. After the tips I picked up in chokey I'm an infinitely more proficient criminal.'

Katy has also had her own recent controversy with children's TV show Sesame Street axing her appearance due to her showing too much cleavage.

Parents were in uproar saying the singer was showing too much flesh even thought the top of the dress was covered in mesh fabric.

But Katy's been invited back at a later date to film another segment on the show.

Elmo was on Good Morning America and said: 'We'll have another one (play date). Elmo loves Ms. Katy and we had a good time.'

Russell needs to learn some discretion however after tweeting Katy's private statistics.

After hearing about her stint with Elmo being shelved he tweeted regarding her bra size: 'Today's Sesame Street will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D.'

Score one for chivalry! In a tweet last night (that she tagged #dontf--kwiththeBrands) pop star Katy Perry did not mince words:

"If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiance will do his job & protect me."

Russell Brand was arrested Friday after a scuffle with a photographer at Delta Airlines security inside Los Angeles International Airport, where the engaged couple was allegedly being tailed by overzealous paparazzi. Brand reportedly lost his cool and came to blows with a few of the shutterbugs, one of whom made a citizen's arrest. LAX police then made it official.

A suspicion of battery charge followed, and after being booked, the 35-year-old British funnyman (on a break from shooting a bawdy remake of the 1981 comedy 'Arthur' with Jennifer Garner and Dame Helen Mirren) was released on his own recognizance. The couple were originally headed to Las Vegas on a Delta flight they failed to catch. Brand is due in court on Oct. 15.

Earlier in the week, Perry and Brand celebrated the one-year anniversary of the night they met at 2009's MTV Video Music Awards; the jet-setting duo became engaged New Year's Eve while traveling in India. Gushing about his famous fiancee, Brand recently told Entertainment Tonight, 'I've been poor and I've lived without love, and now I have some money and I have love, and the most important thing is love.'

Russell Brand arrested in paparazzi scuffle

�Get Him to the Greek� star Russell Brand was taken into police custody yesterday after reportedly �pushing and striking� photographers at Los Angeles International Airport.

The paparazzi were snapping photos of him and his fiancee, singer Katy Perry, while they were going through airport security.

One of the photographers placed the actor-comedian under citizen�s arrest, according to US Weekly. After being interviewed by airport police, Brand was escorted away for suspected battery.

Brand and Perry both missed their scheduled flight to Las Vegas.
