Aziz Ansari: MTV Movie Awards Host -New funny man to host awards.
Since reports started coming out in March, people have wondered if hosting was in store for Aziz Ansari. MTV Movie Awards organizers have confirmed that he will indeed lead the 2010 show.
This actor has a great history with MTV, and has been making a name for himself as people are starting to fall in love with his comedy. And though he jokes and laughs through interviews, he and producers are thrilled about the gig. This years show will air on Sunday, June 6th at 9 pm E.S.T. Read more about this story below, and see more photos and a video.
Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV had this to say about the host choice:
Our audience fell in love with Aziz on Human Giant. They followed him to the movies, TV and stand-up, and connect with him daily online. Aziz is the perfect host for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industrys most rebellious night on television.
Though he made some sarcastic comments about being chose it seems that for Aziz Ansari, MTV Movie Awards hosting will be beneficial to him.
Its a cool job for me because it allows me to do a lot of things I enjoy doing, Ansari said. With the monologue, I get to use my standup skill, and I love making short films and stuff, and thats another thing the host gets to do.
But of course the 27 year old guy we know from Parks & Recreation and for the skit where he confronted last years host, Andy Samberg, had some comical remarks to throw in as well:
Im so happy Ronnie from Jersey Shore was unavailable and this exciting opportunity was able to come my way, and Its all a ploy to get a hosting gig with the Teen Choice Awards next year, Ansari said with a laugh. Or the Nickelodeon Toddlers Choice Awards, thats what I really want to host.
Needless to say it should be funny and edgy! Tell me what you think about Aziz Ansaris MTV Movie Awards hosting job. Also dont miss these photos and a video below!
