Kathy Griffin slams Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Lighten up or suck it!

Griffin called them "prostitutes" on a segment of her Bravo series, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" when talking to CNN reporters. Well, Elisabeth ranted and raved about how rude that was, calling Griffin "scum" on "The View" this week.

Them's fighting words! And now Griffin -- naturally -- is firing back.

The Hollywood Gossip reports Griffin's smack down: "You have to remember that the genesis of that whole joke about Scott Brown was that when he won the election he famously said, 'My two daughters are available.' Then he was called a 'pimp' in the Washington press... The bottom line is, lighten up!"

"[Or] suck it! As the great Bette Midler said, 'F**k 'em if they can't take a joke.'"

Whose side are you on? Hasselbeck or comedian Griffin?

Osama Lookalike in Bollywood Comedy in Tere Bin Laden

Photobucket

Pradhuman Singh, the 27-year-old who plays an Osama lookalike in the recently released Tere Bin Laden, says he felt like a celeb the first time he walked out of the vanity van. We were shooting in a studio, and the moment I stepped out, heads started turning and then there was pin-drop
silence. The security had to come and take me through the crowd, he recalls.

Singh was working with a software firm when he got a call from an old buddy, debutant Abhishek Sharma, the director of the film.

We knew each other from our theatre days, but we hadnt spoken in years. When he called, I thought he wanted me to assist him. When we met, he said I want to play you something, and gave me was an Osama Bin Laden tape! he informs.

Singh didnt think he resembled Bin Laden till people started reacting to his look.

It was as big a shock to me as everyone else. My family and friends knew I was working on a film but had no idea that it had anything to do with Bin Laden. It was only earlier this year that I asked a few close friends to see the promo of the film on YouTube, he says, and remembers being flooded with calls asking him Where are you in the film?, though some recognised him because of his smile.

The actor had to lose a lot of weight for the film. I was 74 kgs, and now I am 63. I had to hit the gym because they didnt want an Osama with a paunch. But now I plan to gorge big time to make up for the time I didnt eat my favourite delicacies. I also learned Arabic for eight months to get my diction right, he says.

Son of a naval officer, Singh studied at Delhis Naval Public School, and then enrolled at the Institute of Hotel Management. He didnt like it much, so didnt graduate. I was working with Wipro when the Osama offer came along, he says. I quit my job because I couldnt sail in two boats.

Pakistan delays decision on Bollywood 'bin Laden' film

'Tere Bin Laden'will no longer open on Friday as planned after a review of a ban on the film was delayed

ISLAMABAD Pakistan on Friday delayed the review of a ban on an Indian Bollywood comedy poking fun at Osama bin Laden, which censors said was a threat to security and offensive to Muslims.

Pakistani censors banned "Tere bin Laden" (Without you, Laden) before it was due to open at cinemas nationwide on Friday. Advertisements for the film in the Pakistani press have been accompanied by "subject to approval" notices.

The film is a spoof about a Pakistani reporter who wants to migrate to the United States and hopes his interview with a chicken farmer who is the spitting image of the world's most wanted man can get him the visa he has been denied.

Pakistani pop singer Ali Zafar plays the starring role, but the board of censors said the film could incite suicide attacks in a country already suffering Islamist militant bombings weekly if not daily.

Censors said the film ridiculed Pakistani society, was offensive to Muslims, portrays bin Laden as a "coward and ridiculous", contained vulgar language and could fan hostility among "fanatic and fundamentalist elements" in Pakistan.

Bombs and attacks blamed on Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants have killed more than 3,560 people across the nuclear-armed country since government troops besieged a radical mosque in Islamabad in July 2007.

But the film's promoters appealed the ban as a violation of freedom of expression, forcing government officials to review the decision.

"I'm astonished they did this," said promoter Nadeem Mandviwala.

"There are many TV programmes in Pakistan criticising the president, prime minister and everybody else in a comic way. Our society has become tolerant."

Pakistan has a relatively free media, but authorities in May briefly shut down YouTube and Facebook over blasphemous content on the Internet. Internet links to material considered offensive are still blocked.

Government officials on Friday attended a private screening of the film to decide whether to uphold the ban or release it for public consumption, but delayed a decision -- meaning that the film will not open on Friday as planned.

"We have postponed the meeting and delayed the decision until Wednesday," culture ministry official Moeen-ul-Islam Bukhari told AFP. He attributed the delay to members of the appeals' committee failing to show up.

The "Tere bin Laden" controversy comes after a number of Gulf states banned a hard-hitting Bollywood film that claims to tell the true story behind violence in the Muslim-majority region.

In India's entertainment capital, Mumbai, the film's producer, Pooja Shetty, said earlier that they were still hoping for clearance for the film.

"I'm hopeful that they will look at it in a positive light," Shetty, the joint managing director at production company Walkwater Media, told AFP.

"I don't think it's a preachy film, neither is it making fun of terrorism. It's about a fake Osama... It's a comedy, a spoofy film."

The film was being released in India and a number of countries on Friday, including Australia, Britain, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

It is expected to be released in the United States at a later date, added Shetty.

The film's subject matter and publicity about Pakistan's ban have catapulted the low-budget film into the spotlight in India and abroad.

The Times of India newspaper gave the film three stars, despite saying its production was a "shade amateur".

"'Tere Bin Laden' has both: smart script and some smart acting."

Vatican beatifies Blues Brothers ... well almost

Photobucket
Jim Belushi (L) and Dan Aykroyd perform as The Blues Brothers during the 2008 MusiCares Person of the Year dinner and concert in honor of Aretha Franklin in Los Angeles Feb 8, 2008.

Jake and Elwood, the loveable if hapless characters played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd in the classic 1980 film The Blues Brothers, have finally gotten Vatican recognition for their Mission from God.

To mark this weeks 30th anniversary of the film, which became a cult classic and spawned a fashion of wearing black hats and dark sunglasses to parties, the Vatican newspaper dedicated a full page and no fewer than five articles to it.

One of the articles says there is no lack of evidence that The Blues Brothers can be considered a Catholic film.

It notes that Jakes release from prison and the commitment by him and Elwood to put their blues revival band back together to raise money to save an orphanage from forced closure has parallels with the Biblical story of the prodigal son.

Jake and Elwood who say they are on a mission from God to raise the money to pay a back tax bill for the orphanage and the band members, are symbols of redemption obtained with sacrifice.

The newspaper also notes that the film is sprinkled with Catholic and moral references such as the nun Sister Mary Stigmata, who they call The Penguin.

Elwood even passes up a chance for a one-night stand with a woman played by Twiggy in order to fulfil the mission, it says.

This is a memorable film, and, judging by the facts, a Catholic one, the newspaper said.

Fox unveils 4 new comedies, 3 new dramas

Fox announced Monday that it will add four new comedies and three dramas to its schedule next season, revamp "American Idol" and give "Glee" the coveted post-Super Bowl slot.

As usual, the No. 1 network leaves some questions lingering in the air. For starters, Simon Cowell must be replaced on "Idol" - so auditions for hopeful and deluded singers won't begin until September. And if the network has anyone in mind to replace Cowell, it's not saying. The Tuesday performance nights of "Idol" will be 90 minutes and the Wednesday results shows will be 30 minutes - of course you'll believe that when you see it - ostensibly because people complained so much about bloated advertising and promotional inserts taking away from the enjoyment of the series and bleeding over into other shows.

Of Fox's dramas, the biggest deal is probably "Terra Nova," a "let's go back in time to the dinosaur age" thriller from Steven Spielberg, which will be heavy on computer-generated graphics and thus has no firm timetable as to when it will appear on the schedule. Those familiar with Fox announcing shows that don't end up making the air might snicker, but if you've got Spielberg attached and the entire support of Fox, odds are that it will makes a splash sometime in 2011.

Because Fox has an early-season commitment to baseball and historically makes its biggest ratings push in January, only four shows are scheduled for fall, including "The Good Guys," a comedy-drama that starts on Wednesday (and thus is not considered a new show for next season).

Since "The Good Guys" is unproven, ratings-wise, and viewers have yet to trust or adjust to summer scheduling, you might want to take a wait-and-see approach to whether that show returns in the fall.
Fox's dramas are:

"Lonestar" is about a man in Texas married to the daughter of an oil baron (played by Jon Voight), but who is also shacking up with a woman elsewhere in the state. If you're thinking "Dallas" meets "Big Love," well, maybe.

"Ride-Along" is a midseason drama from Shawn Ryan ("The Shield," "The Unit") about Chicago cops (it's shot on location, too). It stars Jason Clarke, Jennifer Beals and Delroy Lindo.

"Terra Nova," the Spielberg epic, is also a midseason series and is being billed by Fox as "an epic family adventure" that "follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a part of a massive expedition to save the human race."
Fox's comedies are:

"Running Wilde," the much-anticipated new fall comedy from "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz and writer Jim Vallely, stars Will Arnett, also from "Arrested Development," and Keri Russell ("Waitress," "Felicity"). He's rich, immature and obnoxious, she's his childhood sweetheart whom he's now trying to romance.

"Raising Hope" is a fall comedy from Greg Garcia ("My Name Is Earl"), starring Lucas Neff ("The Beast") as a single guy without much motivation who gets a woman pregnant - and that woman is going to be in prison. So he raises the baby with his dysfunctional family. Also starring Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman.

"Bob's Burgers" is an animated series that is remarkably not from Seth MacFarlane, slated to air in midseason. It's from Loren Bouchard ("Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist," etc.) and revolves around a family that runs a burger restaurant. Again, don't judge a series on paper.

"Mixed Signals" is an ensemble comedy also penciled in for midseason. It's about what almost every other comedy is about these days - single people trying to navigate relationships.

Fox had already renewed "Lie to Me" and "Human Target" - the latter moving to Fridays. The network canceled "Til Death," "Sons of Tucson," "24" and "Past Life."

Sheen returns for more Two and a Half Men

Photobucket
After a few months of uncertainty, Charlie Sheen has decided to continue with his top-rated CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, the actor announced late Monday.

"To put a fitting end on the 2 months of whirlwind speculation, I'm looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights," the 44-year-old actor said in a statement issued late Monday.

Sheen's new contract binds him to the CBS show for another two seasons, according to his spokesman, Stan Rosenfield. Other details of the contract were not revealed.

CBS recently renewed Two and a Half Men, which also stars Jon Cryer, through the 2011-2012 season, but Sheen's contract was up at the end of the current, seventh season.

Sheen took a break from the show, which halted production temporarily, in February when he checked into a rehabilitation facility for an undisclosed treatment.

Rumours also emerged that the actor had been feeling limited by the confines of a weekly TV show and was itching to return to films. He makes a cameo in the forthcoming film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, a sequel to the 1987 classic Wall Street in which he starred.

Sheen's personal life has also been a whirlwind. He faces a trial in Colorado this July over an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen.

Comedy Central Considering Animated Series About Jesus Christ

Photobucket

A cartoon depiction of Jesus Christ on Comedy Central cartoon 'South Park.' The network is considering a cartoon on Jesus called 'JC'.

Having already caused a fuss this spring with the depiction of the prophet Muhammad on "South Park," Comedy Central said Thursday that it has a cartoon series about Jesus Christ in the works.

"JC" is one of 23 potential series the network said it has in development. It depicts Christ as a "regular guy" who moves to New York to "escape his father's enormous shadow."

His father is presented as an apathetic man who would rather play video games than listen to his son talk about his new life, according to Comedy Central's thumbnail sketch of the idea. Reveille, the production company behind "The Office," "Ugly Betty" and "The Biggest Loser," is making "JC."

It wouldn't be the first time Jesus Christ has been on a Comedy Central cartoon; he's a recurring character on the long-running "South Park."

Comedy Central was the target last month of an Internet threat for a "South Park" episode that supposedly showed Islam's prophet in a bear costume.

Whenever "South Park" features Muhammad in an episode, Comedy Central obscures the character with a black box; Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous. Following the Internet threat, Comedy Central angered "South Park" producers by editing out a character's speech about intimidation in a subsequent episode.

"It's not certain what is more despicable: the nonstop Christian bashing featured on the network, or Comedy Central's decision to censor all depictions of Muhammad," said William Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights.

Comedy Central wouldn't comment on Donohue's statement, said network spokesman Tony Fox, who declined to give further details about "JC."

A development deal is a couple of steps ahead of a series making it to air and, in fact, most such deals don't result in series. The network would have to like the scripts enough to produce a test episode, then like that enough to put it on the air.

Other series in the works are "Intercourse with Whitney Cummings," about the comedienne's adventures in dating, and "Live Sex Show," a late-night panel discussion about sex.

With Diaper Stunt, 'Family Guy' Just Trying to Get Fined by FC

Photobucket

'Family Guy' aired its 150th episode on Sunday, but instead of celebrating, the show is under fire once again by a family oriented watchdog group. The Parents Television Council claims the hit FOX sitcom was intentionally trying to needle the FCC when they released 'Brian and Stewie,' in which one character eats the others (oh no, please don't say it) feces.

Broadcast decency laws apply to anything depicting content in which excretory functions are used in an offensive manner.

"It seems as though 'Family Guy' creator, Seth MacFarlane, carefully reviewed the legal definition of broadcast indecency and set out to violate it as literally as he could," said PTC President Tim Winter on their website.

We don't take pleasure in describing what occurs between Brian and Stewie in the episode, but in a nutshell, the pair are stuck in a bank vault when Stewie makes a deposit in his diaper. He somehow convinces his canine companion to eat the diaper's contents, then shockingly coaxes him to clean his bottom using ... his ... tongue. (Pause to gag.)

There is also vomit and the eating of said vomit.

"Given the patently offensive depictions of one character eating excrement out of a diaper, then eating vomit, and finally licking the remaining excrement from a baby's bottom -- while the baby expresses physical gratification from having his bottom licked -- we believe that the broadcast decency law has been broken," Winter said.

The FCC has so far not filed an official complaint against FOX, but the PTC is calling on all concerned parents to boycott the show's sponsors.

"We will also hold publicly accountable the corporate sponsors which underwrote this feces-eating broadcast, ironically a number of which were restaurants."

FOX and McFarlane have so far declined to comment on the controversy.

Paramount Wins Bidding War for latest Sasha Baron Cohen Comedy

Photobucket

Congratulations to Sasha Baron Cohen, who is reportedly going to be a daddy again and just scored big for his next movie project. Armed with a comedy that features him in a dual role with a character who tends goats and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the United States, Sacha has been making his way around Hollywood with Seinfeld writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel.

The foursome met with a total of six studio presidents over a period of two days, with Paramount eventually besting Sony in the fierce bidding war. Paramount president Brad Grey got so enthusiastic he sent a goat wearing a Paramount T-shirt to William Morris Endeavor, which represents the creative comedian, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Baron Cohen was impressed by the gesture and probably more that Paramount will be paying him an astronomical $20 million up front and also giving him 20% of the first-dollar gross, which could mean upwards of $50-60 million, based on the grosses of his last few films.

South Park Episode Is Altered After Muslim Groups Warning

Photobucket

An episode of South Park that continued a story line involving the Prophet Muhammad was shown Wednesday night on Comedy Central with audio bleeps and image blocks reading CENSORED after a Muslim group warned the shows creators that they could face violence for depicting that holy Islamic prophet. Revolution Muslim, a group based in New York, wrote on its Web site that the South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for an episode shown last week in which a character said to be the Prophet Muhammad was seen wearing a bear costume. Mr. Van Gogh was slain in Amsterdam in 2004 after making a film that discussed the abuse of Muslim women in some Islamic societies.

The new episode of South Park on Wednesday night tried to revisit this character, but with the name and depiction of the character blocked out. It was unclear how much of the bleeping was Mr. Stone and Mr. Parkers decision. In a message posted on their Web site, SouthParkStudios.com, they wrote that they could not immediately stream the new episode on the site because:

After we delivered the show, and prior to broadcast, Comedy Central placed numerous additional audio bleeps throughout the episode. We do not have network approval to stream our original version of the show.

On Thursday morning, a spokesman for Comedy Central confirmed that the network had added more bleeps to the episode than were in the cut delivered by South Park Studios, and that it was not giving permission for the episode to run on the studios Web site.

On Thursday afternoon, Trey Parker and Matt Stone released the following statement:

In the 14 years weve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldnt stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasnt some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyles customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didnt mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. Well be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and well see what happens to it.

Garnering huge popularity, as well as a British Academy Award and a Golden Globe, for their landmark series The Office, the duo have also found success in producing Extras, helping start the American version of The Office, and making an animated series.

With the comic genius of Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, Lifes Too Short holds great promise. Describing the series, BBC explains:

Its a frustrating world, but an optimistic and warm one. This is a comedy where truth and big laughs sit side by side,

Warwick Davis, the shows star, is also popular for his role as Proffessor Flitwick in Harry Potter, Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, and his lead role in the movie Willow. Gervais has a glowing opinion of the actor:

Were having so much fun working with Warwick. Pound for pound he is one of the funniest men I know.

Always quick with the wit, the man famous for his portrayal of David Brent has also found success on the big screen. He has starred in the comedies Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying, and made appearances in both Night at the Museum movies. He continued:

Its a cross between Extras and Curb your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave but with a dwarf. That is out and out funny.

Tough to imagine, but it definitely has the potential to be hysterical. Would you tune in to watch Steve Merchant and Ricky Gervais Lifes Too Short? Let me know in the comments section!

Aziz Ansari: MTV Movie Awards Host -New funny man to host awards.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Since reports started coming out in March, people have wondered if hosting was in store for Aziz Ansari. MTV Movie Awards organizers have confirmed that he will indeed lead the 2010 show.

This actor has a great history with MTV, and has been making a name for himself as people are starting to fall in love with his comedy. And though he jokes and laughs through interviews, he and producers are thrilled about the gig. This years show will air on Sunday, June 6th at 9 pm E.S.T. Read more about this story below, and see more photos and a video.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV had this to say about the host choice:

Our audience fell in love with Aziz on Human Giant. They followed him to the movies, TV and stand-up, and connect with him daily online. Aziz is the perfect host for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industrys most rebellious night on television.

Though he made some sarcastic comments about being chose it seems that for Aziz Ansari, MTV Movie Awards hosting will be beneficial to him.

Its a cool job for me because it allows me to do a lot of things I enjoy doing, Ansari said. With the monologue, I get to use my standup skill, and I love making short films and stuff, and thats another thing the host gets to do.

But of course the 27 year old guy we know from Parks & Recreation and for the skit where he confronted last years host, Andy Samberg, had some comical remarks to throw in as well:

Im so happy Ronnie from Jersey Shore was unavailable and this exciting opportunity was able to come my way, and Its all a ploy to get a hosting gig with the Teen Choice Awards next year, Ansari said with a laugh. Or the Nickelodeon Toddlers Choice Awards, thats what I really want to host.

Needless to say it should be funny and edgy! Tell me what you think about Aziz Ansaris MTV Movie Awards hosting job. Also dont miss these photos and a video below!

Artful nudity provokes art-less viewer responses in NYC

Photobucket

Photobucket

For such a worldly place, and one arguably the center of the art world, New York has had its share of voyeurs, gropers and alarmists lately. It all has to do with a couple of art shows that both involve the N-word: nudity. You would think pop culture, explicit commercials and even nude icons of art history had never existed.

The names to note are Marina Abramovic and Antony Gormley - she at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and he literally all over town.

What a way to earn a living: as a live work of art, often a naked one, in a major New York City museum. This has been happening at MoMA since March, and it will continue till the end of May - despite all fainting and groping that may occur.

It's all about people employed to re-enact the "performance art" that Yugoslav artist Marina Abramovic has presented over the last 40 years. Now 64, the artist herself is also involved in this sweeping retrospective show, "The Artist Is Present."

She's performing a new original piece that requires her to sit on view, still and silent, during museum hours. Visitors occasionally take a chair across from her at a small table.

By May 31, Abramovic will have sat for more than 700 hours - the longest duration of time she has ever performed a solo piece.

Her "body of work" typically began, well, with her body. Often naked, she or her current stand-ins sits, stands or lies down as part of a presentation. Her oeuvre also includes sound pieces, videos, photographs, solo and collaborative performances.

Dating back to 1977, one of Abramovic's collaborative piece involves a woman and a man, both naked, who stand in a museum doorway facing each other. Visitors may walk between them en route to more of the show. The NY Post headlined this as "Squeezy does it."

Reportedly, most of those going through face the woman. At least one visitor has touched one of the two, sliding his hand onto the man's ribs then back to touch his butt. And that wasn't all: the fondler then told the artist, "You feel good, man."

"This man is touching me," the artist reported to a guard. That visitor's longtime membership was revoked and he has been barred from returning to the museum.

It doesn't end there. Besides the gropers, visitors have taken forbidden photographs, commented on performers' bodies, and even exhibited stalker-like behavior, tracking the performers on Facebook. And, because the work is draining, there have been several performer faintings.

Despite some visitors' inappropriate behaviors, artists involved give MoMA guards good marks for vigilance.

The show's mission "To demonstrate that it's possible to preserve an ephemeral medium through live re-creations of past work in a museum setting" may or may not be realized in "The Artist Is Present." It's in the eye (and with luck, that's all) of the beholder.

Often assumed to be sophisticatedly blas about art, New Yorkers and visitors to the city have been taken aback by Antony Gormley's sculpture. Maybe because it consists of 31 life-size figures of himself, naked. And these figures are situated around the city.

Those perched on rooftops are made of fiberglass and weigh in at about 70 pounds, while those in parks and on sidewalks are cast iron, about 1,400 pounds each. All similar in appearance, they began to show up in late March and will remain in place till mid-August. (Maybe by then, viewers will calm down; they may even grow blas.)

These days, however, the elevated figures continue to generate calls to the police from people fearing they're suicidal "jumpers." (A Yale student's fatal leap from the Empire State Building on March 30 may have contributed to the alarms despite the police department's pre-emptive public assurance that the sculptures aren't jumpers.)

Gormley, a 59-year old Brit based in London, did something like this in 2007, along the South Bank of the Thames. His Manhattan "Event Horizon" is his first public art project in New York.

He compares the insertion of his sculpture with insertion of acupuncture needles, saying that within a collective body, "seeing how the body as a whole reacts to the presence of this irritation is very much the point."

The process of making figures of his own body required Gormley's being covered with plastic wrap under wet plaster for an hour or two. The resulting plaster cast prefigured his 31 look-alikes.

Steve Carell, Tina Fey have a not-so-hot date -New movie by 2 famous comedian actors.

Photobucket
Tina Fey and Steve Carell star in "Date Night."
Two funny people with great comic chemistry take us for a night on the town in "Date Night."

Tina Fey and Steve Carell are the Fosters, a couple worried that work, marriage and kids have made them stale. They take us to a snooty New York restaurant, and they take us along on an adventure that involves mistaken identity, crooks, crooked cops, car and boat chases, and a visit to a pricey sex-show strip club.

In fact, they take us about as far as director Shawn ("Night at the Museum," "The Pink Panther") Levy will let them. But when all is said and done, this brief, middle-of-the-road, middlebrow giggler lacks the pace or the punch to give us, or the Fosters, a night to remember.

After witnessing the breakup of a couple they know (Mark Ruffalo, unusually animated, and Kristen Wiig), the New Jersey-dwelling Fosters recognize the warning signs in their own marriage -- exhaustion, overscheduled kids, infrequent intercourse. Their date nights have become chores.

Claire (Fey), a real estate agent, decides to get dolled up to break the routine. Phil (Carell), that wild-man tax accountant, takes the bait. "I'm taking you to dinner ... in the CITY." They drop in, sans reservations, at a trendy new seafood place for snobs. When they can't get a table and hear names of folks who haven't shown up called out, the Fosters assume the identities of a no-show couple, the Tripplehorns. But before they make it to the dessert menu, all Hell's Kitchen breaks loose.

Best running gag? Everybody -- from the crooks who refuse to believe they're not who they said they were, to the cops who hear their story, to the real Tripplehorns (James Franco and Mila Kunis, a hoot) -- is shocked, absolutely shocked, that they'd take somebody else's reservation.

"What kind of people DO that?"

Even Claire's helpful former real-estate client (Mark Walhberg), a guy who has a handy "black ops" security background, is put out.

The Fosters swipe a car, a motorboat, clothes and identities, all in an effort to make the bad guy (Ray Liotta) see that they're not the cunning criminals he and his minions think they are.

Fey flirts and Carell kvetches. Walhberg goes shirtless and Liotta eats Italian. No surprises there.

What really clicks is the couple at the core. "Shrek" screenwriter Josh Klausner may not have had enough jokes and Fey, the funniest person on the set, may not have felt like helping. But the Fosters' reality of exhausting, sex-inhibiting family life will have more than a few couples at "Date Night" wincing (and grinning) in recognition.

Without giving away the ending, Steve Carell and Tina Feys Date Night closes with a four-and-a-half minute kiss an embrace Steve called pure heaven.

That was on the second day of shooting, the actor told Access Hollywood at the New York premiere of his new film on Tuesday night. Tina had the idea to have the longest kiss to roll over credits in history. We were talking to each other the whole time, we never broke the kiss but we were talking out of the sides of our mouths. Now, Im going to lie down, follow me, right, get on top of me.

While Steve may have enjoyed the moment, Tina joked with Access that the scene was not erotic at all.

The two comedians also had a difference of opinion on whether or not Tina was a diva on the set.

Yes, now that I finally am on camera, Im just going to say it, shes a horror show, Steve joked. [No,] she lived up to every expectation that I had, and more.

You know what it is, he doesnt understand what the word means, Tina said of the diva question. He just thinks it means fancy.

While the two NBC stars may seem like a big-screen match made in heaven, Steve told Access that he didnt think his The Office would ever crossover with Tinas 30 Rock.

Never will happen ever, he said emphatically, joking it was the worst idea. I think they exist right next to each other perfectly. That would be a weird melding of worlds.

Date Night hits theaters on Friday.

Breaking the news: Carrey announced the news on Twitter last night

In fact, they did seem pretty nice about the whole thing, if you believe their Twitter posts.

``Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to [his daughter] Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.''

Leading man in my heart? Sounds like a Hallmark card.

So what happened? The Canadian funnyman just became a grandpa -- maybe Jenny didn't want that role. Or maybe he didn't want to get dragged around to all the charity functions -- she is an advocate for autism awareness.

When they were down in Miami for the Super Bowl, they seemed happier than most Hollywood couples.

And Jim doesn't seem like he is capable of a sext scandal.

Though they did seem a bit of a mismatch -- Jenny, who has a 7-year-old son with her ex, director John Asher -- is a former Playboy pinup. Jim seems a little wacko.

The duo kept the relationship pretty low key, though McCarthy told Ellen DeGeneres in 2008 that they were living together and were basically married.

Carrey has been hitched twice before, to Jane's actress mother, Melissa Womer, and to his Dumb and Dumber costar, Lauren Holly. The latter marriage lasted only a year. He was also briefly engaged to his costar in Me, Myself & Irene, Renee Zellweger.

Hollywood actor Jim Carrey has stunned fans by announcing his five-year relationship with gorgeous Jenny McCarthy is over - on social networking site Twitter.

The Yes Man star, 48, shocked more than half-a-million followers on his page with the revelation saying: 'Jenny and I have just ended our five-year relationship. I'm grateful for the many blessings we've shared and I wish her the very best! S'okay!'
The Canadian-born actor - star of hit comedies including Dumb and Dumber and Liar, Liar - started seeing the ex-Playboy model, 37, in 2005.
Jenny also posted a message on Twitter later, saying: 'I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I had together.

'I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.'

Twice-married, Carrey was previously engaged to 40-year-old Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger.
The breakup came as something of a surprise as the pair had appeared to be one of Hollywood's happiest and most devoted couples.

Just last month McCarthy told E Online: 'I love Jim in any form. He could have no arms and no legs and I'll love the stump of him.'

Carrey had grown close to McCarthy's autistic son Evan. 'He taught me how to love,' the comic star said at a march to raise awareness for healthier vaccinations in Washington, D.C., two years ago.

'And without Evan I might never have seen the greatness of Jenny's spirit,' he added.
In February the couple jointly hosted an event in Miami to support McCarthy's autism organisation, Generation Rescue.

'Jenny is the first person that Ive been with where I don't have a giant question mark over my head,' Carrey told People magazine.

While McCarthy has praised her then-boyfriend's devotion to Evan.

She has said: '[He has the] capacity to love and to take on something that most men would completely run away from.'
The former couple have been outspoken about not getting married, but McCarthy recently joked that they were considering walking down the aisle.

'We say "never" but I don't know. Maybe for tax purposes, someday, when we are old.'

Carrey recently revealed on Twitter that he had become a grandfather after his 22-year-old singer/songwriter daughter Jane gave birth to grandson Jackson Riley Santana.

McCarthy said she was thrilled to be a grandmother to Jane's baby.

'I will be called 'grandmother,' with or without a [marriage] certificate," she said. 'That baby is going to be mine!'
