Kathy Griffin slams Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Lighten up or suck it!

Griffin called them "prostitutes" on a segment of her Bravo series, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" when talking to CNN reporters. Well, Elisabeth ranted and raved about how rude that was, calling Griffin "scum" on "The View" this week.

Them's fighting words! And now Griffin -- naturally -- is firing back.

The Hollywood Gossip reports Griffin's smack down: "You have to remember that the genesis of that whole joke about Scott Brown was that when he won the election he famously said, 'My two daughters are available.' Then he was called a 'pimp' in the Washington press... The bottom line is, lighten up!"

"[Or] suck it! As the great Bette Midler said, 'F**k 'em if they can't take a joke.'"

Whose side are you on? Hasselbeck or comedian Griffin?

Was Elisabeth Hasselbeck forced to apologize for Erin Andrews comments?

Elisabeth Hasselbecks tearful apology to Erin Andrews on The View may have been Barbara Walters idea, according to a new report.

Earlier this week, Hasselbeck publicly apologized for her comments against stalking victim Andrews on The View. Hasselbeck said on an earlier show that Andrews convicted stalker could have avoided prison by waiting 12 weeks to see more skin revealed in her costumes on Dancing With the Stars.

Andrews later told Access Hollywood that Hasselbecks comments brought her to tears.

"I think people can have opinions about the costumes and the show," Andrews said. "But my biggest complaint is she's a woman and a mother and there was giggling [and] it was a mockery of something I've lived through this past year. I felt like it was a slap in the face for victims of stalkers and victims of sexual predators."

But while Hasselbeck was genuinely remorseful for her comments, reports that Walters was the one who said that she had to apologize, not only to rectify the situation, but also for a ratings boost.

"Barbara thought it would be a good idea to have Elisabeth apologize on air," an insider told columnist Rob Shuter. "No one is more professional than Barbara, and since the comment was made on 'The View,' the apology should also be made on 'The View.' Plus, all this drama is GREAT for ratings."

And during these tough times, Hasselbeck has reportedly been leaning on her friend Sarah Palin for support. The two have kept in touch since the election and Palin is offering her the support she needs.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck made a tearful apology to Dancing with the Stars' Erin Andrews on Wednesday's View following her criticism of the ESPN reporter's outfits on the show.

Hasselbeck said she tried to explain to her 5-year-old daughter that she had hurt Andrews' feelings. "I promised [my daughter] I would use my words more mindfully, like I try to do, to build people up and not break them down," Hasselbeck said.

Hasselbeck's apology came a day after she criticized the skimpiness of Andrews' recent Dancing outfits and made a crass joke about a man convicted of stalking her. He was accused of secretly recording Andrews through hotel room peepholes.

"I think in light of what happened ... and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... in some way, if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man, I could have just waited 12 weeks ... I could have seen this, a little bit less, without the prison time,'" Hasselbeck said on Tuesday's show.

Following Tuesday night's Dancing elimination round, Andrews told Access Hollywood that Hasselbeck's remarks made her cry. "I think people can have opinions about the costumes and the show ... but my biggest complaint is she's a woman and a mother and there was giggling [and] it was a mockery of something I've lived through this past year. ... I felt like it was a slap in the face for victims of stalkers and victims of sexual predators."

Andrews' Dancing family rallied around her as well.

"@ehasselbeck why did u have to throw @erinandrewsespn under the bus this morning? shame on u," Dancing pro Louis Van Amstel tweeted.

"Elizabeth Hassleback's [sic] comments about @ErinAndrewsESPN. Insensitive, in poor taste and remedial and foolish," fellow contestant Niecy Nash tweeted.

Partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy defended Andrews' outfits as well, tweeting, " I'm the one designing @ErinAndrewsESPN's dresses for the show, so I'll just assume that @ehasselbeck is jealous...and stupid 4 her comments."
