Mira Sorvino Balances The Mother-Load

Photobucket
Mira Sorvino is one of the many actresses as-of-late that are choosing to give their acting careers the back seat to motherhood. The 42-year-old Mighty Aphrodite star and husband Christopher Backus are parents to three children- Mattea, 5, Johnny, almost 4, and Holden, 1 in June. The actress sat down with Parade to promote her latest flick, Multiple Sarcasms, and dished on her family life and her career.

On choosing family over career: "I don't want to take time away from my kids [two sons and a daughter with actor Christopher Backus.] I used to work all year long and basically live in hotel rooms. Kudos to women who can pull that off, but I don't want my kids raised by nannies. I have the best children and husband. I'm really, really blessed."

On her role model- her mother: "My mother was a stay-at-home mom. She was amazing, always there for us. Somewhere I guess there is a middle ground, but you see your kids suffer when you leave them with someone else. And I already feel this future sense of loss - they're going to grow up and go away and I'll be alone. I'm so attached to my kids that I even hate to see my daughter go on a playdate. Sometimes I'm like, 'Why don't you stay here with me?'"

Where is Lindsay Lohan in the 'Machete' Trailer?

Photobucket

In April, PopEater reported that Lindsay Lohan had been left off the cover of the 'Mean Girls' video game, and we speculated that the marketing team behind the game may have been leery of associating the actresses current, troubled image with the teen-friendly game.

Now, the trailer for Lohan's latest movie, Robert Rodriguez's hotly-anticipated 'Machete,' has been released -- but if you blink you'll miss her. What gives?

Lohan is part of an all-star ensemble cast that includes Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Danny Trejo. According to IMDB, the film is about an ex-Federale who goes on a brutal rampage of revenge after being betrayed by his former boss. It is based on a fake trailer that was featured as part of the Rodriguez-Quentin Tarantino double feature, 'Grindhouse.' IMDB notes that she filmed her role in three days.

She appears in the trailer only when her name flashes across the screen; she is dressed as a gun-wielding nun and does not speak.

Unlike the 'Mean Girls' game, which is aimed at a younger audience, 'Machete' is a violent, curse word-laden film from a director whose last picture featured a character whose amputated leg was replaced by a machine gun. It's curious that they wouldn't play up Lohan's participation. Whether she is or is not a "troubled" in real life, she is often portrayed as such, so why not show her in all her bad girl glory? Because really, at this point, isn't that what we all want to see anyway -- Lindsay Lohan being a bad girl doing bad girl things? Shouldn't she be all over this thing?

Melanie Griffith tells the Spanish magazine Hola! that her recent stint in rehab was due to a painkiller addiction stemming from a skiiing accident, People reports. At the time she entered rehab last summer, Griffth's husband Antonio Banderas called the move "precautionary," saying she was feeling "a little bit" weak in her resolve to stay away from drugs.

In the magazine, Griffith, who had been in rehab at least twice before, calls addiction "a monster." "If I feed it, it will always want more and more, so now I'm letting it starve to death in a corner. But it's always there." Griffith, who was sober for six years before the 2008 skiing accident, says she doesn't drink or take pills anymore. "Nothing. And it's fantastic. It's like getting out of
