In Defense of KanYe

He's the villain; he's a monster. He does anything to bring attention to himself. He stole candy from a baby when he stole poor Taylor Swift's microphone on Sunday night. But guess what, he's a star, so everyone will pay attention to him.
KanYe West pulled an epic stunt at the 2009 Video Music Awards broadcasted on MTV. After storming the stage when Taylor Swift won an award over Beyonce, he praised Beyonce for her "best video of all time". West stomped on Taylor Swift's shining moment as the first country artist to receive a VMA.
Is anyone even suprised? West isn't famous for his model behavior (girlfriend/model Amber Rose takes care of that), he is a rapper, producer, and icon whose persona is larger than life. It is his responsibility, nay his job, to bring attention to himself, regardless of if it is positive or negative.
West did do the wrong thing, I am not advocating his behavior at all, I am simply stating that Kanye turned an interesting albeit boring telecast into national news. He also skyrocketed Taylor Swift to America's sweetheart status. People in the world who didn't know who Taylor Swift was or what kind of music she made now empathize with her because the big bad wolf blew her house down.
Although West has now apologized on the Internet, on Jay Leno, and on the phone to Swift herself, people are going to talk about how big of a jerk he is for the remainder of his career. It isn't fair to take one moment from an artist's career and punish them for it forever. HE SAID HE'S SORRY - move on people. Just think about all the good times you've had jamming to "College Dropout" or singing along to "Golddigger" and cut KanYe some slack.
Audio of President calling Kanye West Out
Meanwhile it shows the President is on the side of common sense and good manners, then again, when a press corp member calls what happened to Taylor Swift the "Joe Wilson Treatment" what side of the issue would you expect him to come down on?
It started off with a press pool member asking what seemed to be an on the record question, "Were your girls as hacked off as mine were that Kanye gave Taylor Swift the Joe Wilson treatment?" to which the President responded, "I thought that was really inappropriate. You know, it's like she's getting a award - what are you buttin' in? I hear ya, I agree with ya." Continuing after some press corp joking, "The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She's getting her award - what's he doing up there?" Press interjects "Why did he do that?" to which the President continued with indignant disgust, "...He's a jacka--." Which drew sophomoric laughter from some press members. "I'm assuming all this stuff - where's the pool? (laughter) Come on guys. Cut the President some slack. I got a lot of other stuff on my plate."
When the President says he has other stuff on his plate, he means he doesn't want to get involved. Good for him. The press should stop asking 'unPresidential' questions if they want him to avoid more beer summits. It's clear our nation is suffering from bad manners and outbursts. The President has already held one beer summit at this rate his required constant intervention could cost our country millions. That last sentence is a joke.

Kanye Apologizes For His Stunt at the VMAs
Kanye also wrote an apology on his blog, which read: "I feel like Ben Stiller in 'Meet the Parents' when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave."
"That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in anyway to take it from her. I am truly sorry."
He also claimed that 19-year-old Taylor's mother Andrea Swift "tore into him" backstage, demanding he apologies to her daughter.
"Taylor's mother said the same thing my mother would have said," Kanye wrote.
VMA host Russell Brand has defended Kanye, but admits his actions were out of line.
"I know Kanye, and I know he's a nice guy," Russell told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. "We all make mistakes in life. We're all people, these things are a bit silly, no one died.
"But Taylor Swift's a young kid, isn't she? You can't make a pretty girl cry."
President Obama Weighs In On Kanye West's Drunken Fiasco at MTV VMA's

It's official. When the President calls you out, you have really sunk to a new low.
According to Terry Moran of ABC News in a tweet he posted:
TerryMoran: Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a "jackass" for his outburst at the VMA's when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential.
How official a statement this will remain depends on whether Obama wants to go on record or not. PCM can pretty much guarantee you this statement will be denied. But off the record. Wow.
Here is the latest reaction from ABC News when fellow media contacts wanted confirmation:
"In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."

Kanye West on Taylor Swift (MTV Video Music Awards)

Kanye showed up on the MTV Video Music Awards stage next to Taylor Swift, right in the middle of her acceptance speech for Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me."
"I always dreamed about what it would be like to win one of these one day," Taylor said with surprise. "I never thought it would happen."
As Taylor continued, Kanye interrupted, saying he thought Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video was wrongly overlooked. "Hey Taylor, I'm really happy for you, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
Taylor looked humiliated. The audience booed him, and gave her a standing ovation.
Taylor was competing with Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Pink, and Kelly Clarkson in that category.
Pink tweeted about her annoyance with Kanye. "Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh-t on earth. Quote me," she wrote. "My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl, and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her."
Fortunately, Taylor got another chance to complete her acceptance speech. When Beyonce accepted the Best Video Award for "Single Ladies," she invited Taylor back on stage.
"Wow, this is amazing," Beyonce said when receiving her award. "I remember being 17-years-old and up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
Taylor then joined Beyonce on stage and recited her acceptance speech, only making a subtle reference to the incident. Before rattling off her special thanks, she said, "Maybe we can try this again."
After the awards, Kanye posted an apology to Taylor on his website, KanyeUniversecity.com. "I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM," Kanye wrote on his site, AP reported. "I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!"

Kanye West Says No to Porn
He loves high-profile swanky events, and last night Kanye West was thoroughly enjoying himself at Wallpaper magazines 2009 Design Awards fete.
The Love Lockdown rapper looked dapper as he struck a few poses for the paparazzi out on the streets of Paris, France, sporting a grey velour sportcoat with a matching scarf, grey jeans, and grey sneakers.
In related news, West has emphatically gone on the defense against reports that he was lined up to star in a bisexual pornographic film, and hes making sure everyone knows its false.
He blogged, Yoooo, why wont you let me be great!!! I had the two greatest days of my life, and when I get back from the Louie [sic] show, I read some sh-- claiming I said Im down to do porn and some bisexual porn!!!! I cant believe the AVN [Adult Video News] would post [that story].
Now somebody has been hacking into my MySpace and somebodys actually hacked into my personal GMail account and has been e-mailing people from it. ... Hey, world, I no longer have GMail! I found out I had twelve unauthorized Skype accounts under my name!!! This all in the past four days. Welcome to Kanye West World!
Please I beg you, give me a break!!!!! Let me be great!!! Who have I hurt so bad that they want to destroy me? Who have I ever spoke about so negatively? I just was speaking with our new president two days ago ... and now this.
